Made for 7DRL Challenge 2024

The facility has been breached. All the workers who didn't leave on time seem to have transmuted and the service robots are disobedient. Maybe I can clear the path and descend to the bottom by using lifts.

-- in-game briefing

A quite simple game with quite classic roguelike features.

Full keyboard controls are shown in pause menu - after starting a new game and closing the briefing screen, you can press Escape to enter the pause menu.

Features:

  • Turn-based melee and ranged combat.  There is a knife and a few ranged weapons, each with their own damage which is range-based (random) and depends on target's body type. No ammunition is needed for ranged weapons, so maybe they should be named magic wands instead. Combat works diagonally.
  • "Potions", or injectors. These are used to cause a specific effect on the player, but can also cause negative effects. You don't really know what the effect is - you have to use the injector to reveal the effect for it and all subsequent injectors of the same kind.
  • Several levels and enemy types. You have to use lifts to progress. Lifts are the open doors on the top walls. Enemies have different body types, speeds, damages, and aggressiveness characteristics.
  • Enemies' "AI". They don't stand still, but rather wiggle here and there. If they sniff you out, they get aggressive! Fret not though, as you can outrun them (not always!) and they will get back to their business.
  • Sounds. Just to indicate that guns work, they play sounds when shooting. No fancy bullet animations!
  • Inventory. You cannot stockpile items indefinitely - inventory has limited space, so you have to decide what to take and what to leave or drop.
  • Sandbox mode. Just because enemies, items, and levels may not be balanced enough, it doesn't mean you can't finish the game! Use this mode to speedrun to the last level if you want.

Assets (sounds and graphics) were not made by me - got these from opengameart.org submissions on permissive licenses.
